Our Bible text for this weekend is the Passover story from Exodus 12 & 13.
The book of Exodus begins with all 70 members of Jacob’s family living as immigrants in the land of Egypt.
A new Pharaoh arose “who did not know Joseph” (1:8). This new Phara
Finally, the LORD prepared the Israelites for one final and terrifying plague against the Egyptians: the killing of all first-born Egyptian children and animals (11:4-8; see 4:21-23). The first-born of the Israelites would be spared the deadly effects of this plague by participating in the Passover meal and smearing the blood of the Passover lamb on the doorposts of their homes. The text for this Sunday describe this Passover meal in Egypt as well as the instructions for future celebrations of the annual Festival of Passover and the Festival of Unleavened Bread in future generations once the Israelites leave Egypt.
In this story God make a new beginning possible when all seemed hopeless. Have you seen that happen in your life?
The Israelites have shared this story through all the generations. How do we pass along the faith to the next generation?
What connections do you see between Passover and the Lord’s Supper?

Our story for worship this weekend is the story of Joseph and his brothers, beginning in Genesis 37. Some of you may remember the telling of it in the musical “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” which was performed at Mt. Horeb high school a couple of years ago. While the story may be old, the issues are still very current.
What do you do with feelings of jealousy? Revenge? Favoritism?
More importantly, how can forgiveness break the cycle of revenge and recrimination?
When you get caught up in these feelings, how do you respond?
How can God’s word and work of forgiveness allow a new beginning for us?
