There are many opportunities to get involved at ELC. From preparing homeless lunches to assembling the monthly newsletter to ushering or serving communion during worship, we can find a volunteer job for you that fits your schedule and interests. MINISTRIES OF ELC

Children and Youth

  • Opportunities for social activities and mission projects

AGAPE Preschool and 4K

  • Christian-based preschool for age 3

  • Public School program for 4K children

Benevolence/Social Action Ministry

  • Determines a variety of monthly benevolence organizations for the year
  • Supports Lutheran World Relief

Endowment Fund

            Contact:  Ann Baumgartner, Treasurer – abaumgartner1@charter.net

  • Makes income available for religious/charitable purposes
  • Gifts are made in perpetuity
  • Interest earned is distributed to benevolent organizations
  • Gift principal can only be used if stipulated by the donor
  • A committee of elected ELC members manage the funds and distributions

Inreach/Outreach

  • Reach out to prospective members and new members through Project Welcome
  • Arrange sponsors and small gifts for new members and put pictures on bulletin board in the narthex.
  • Deliver goodies to shut-ins for holidays
  • Place ads in the newspaper for Church celebrations
  • Provide Lenten meals at Wednesday morning Lenten services
  • Purchase candy for the frolic parade
  • Maintains a scrapbook of Church activities

Internship Committee

Spiritual Growth and Fellowship

Technology

Ushers

  • Teams rotate responsibilities throughout the month
  • Assist with opening Church before services – de-icing sidewalks, place signs, assist communion flow, hand out bulletins, pass collection plates

Red Cross Blood Drive

  • Can walk in to give blood or call Red Cross
  • Contact Linda to volunteer for check in, snack preparation, etc.
  • 5 times/year – February, April, June, September and November

Neighbors Helping Neighbors

            Contact:  Coordinator needed

  • Food pantry donations – can be brought to basket in fellowship hall – Mary and Gary Hastings take donations to the site when needed
  • Clothes closet donations – take directly to the Clothes Closet at 102 E. Lincoln St.
  • Volunteers to sort, unpack, and service customers
  • Responsible for month of January – volunteer staffing and processing donations at Clothes Closet

STUDY AND SOCIAL SERVICE GROUPS

Knitting Group (or crocheting)

  • Make baby caps for area hospitals
  • Making glasses cases for ER and surgery at Meriter when people forget to bring their own case along
  • Meet the 1st and 3rd Tuesday mornings at Church (September-May)

Men’s Bible Study

  • Early morning men’s group for fellowship and devotional time
  • Meet the 1st and 3rd Thursday at 6:30 a.m. at Church or via Zoom

Rebecca Circle Bible Study Group

  • Minister to those who have lost a loved one by remembering special occasions helping people realize the Church is always here for them and that we care
  • Contribute to SABA, Neighbors Helping Neighbors, Giving Tree and others
  • Baby kits for Lutheran World Relief – 29 kits filled in 2022
  • Meet the 3rd Tuesday morning in the Fellowship Hall (September-May)

Sarah Circle Bible Study Group

  • Support faith journey of members through Bible study
  • Remembrance gifts to children baptized at ELC
  • Make blankets for high school graduates
  • Support SABA, Commission Ministers Network, DAIS Shelter and others
  • Meet the 3rd Tuesday evening at Church (September-May)

Quilting/Sewing Circle

  • 160 quilts were sent with shipping costs to LWR IN 2021
  • Small quilts are given to infants for baptism
  • Meet every Thursday morning at Church to make quilts for Lutheran World Relief.

Welcome to Worship!

Saturday: 5:00 pm Worship in small chapel – modified traditional format.
Sunday: 9:00 a.m. Worship with a blend of traditional and contemporary music

Sunday School:  10:15 a.m.

Live worship will be streamed at 9:00 a.m. on Facebook. Recordings will be available on Facebook,  YouTube and on the Sermon Archive page.
